Welcome to Kashmir. On arrival at Srinagar airport, you are met and driven to Pahalgam (96 kms/3 hrs), passing a magnificent saffron field, the historic Awantipura ruins and the Anantnag Sulphur Springs enroute.
On arrival at Pahalgam, check in at your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure to soak in the breath-taking Himalayan views and walk along the banks of the River Lidder.
Known as the ‘Valley of Shepherds’ and a favourite Bollywood filming location, Pahalgam sits at 2,133 metres at the confluence of the Lidder river and streams from Sheeshnag Lake. Framed by pine forest and snow-dusted peaks, it’s also the traditional starting point for the Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage. A gentle riverside walk and the surrounding hills make it a wonderfully tranquil base.
